SSO, G Suite (Workspace) & Slack

Papyrs integrates with both Slack and G Suite, and also provides additional Single Sign On functionality through SAML and Active Directory (LDAP).

Slack

Add to Slack

Papyrs is a great companion app to Slack. If you're already using Slack for chat, then you can use Papyrs to organize and document your team's knowledge in a structured way. To enable integration with Slack, just add the Papyrs app to Slack: go to Site Settings > Integrations & SSO > Add Papyrs to Slack. You can also find the Papyrs app in the Slack App Directory.

Sign in with Slack

Once installed, members from your Slack workspace can log in to your Papyrs site using Single Sign On, using the Sign in with Slack button. If you have enabled the Site Settings > Allow joining without invitation setting, people from your Slack workspace can join your Papyrs site automatically. Otherwise, they need to be invited to the site first before being able to sign in. See Joining the site for more details.

Papyrs Bot

When the Papyrs for Slack app is active, you can use the /papyrs command directly from Slack to search or post to your knowledge base.

To search your Papyrs site, just type /papyrs your keywords
The /papyrs command can also be used to post notes and create pages. Just type /papyrs help to get a list of all commands!

Google Workspace (formerly G Suite)

Papyrs is the easiest intranet platform for Google Workspace (G Suite). Use your Papyrs intranet site to get everyone on the same page, and bring together, collect and share all your information, whether it's on Papyrs or on Workspace. Site Owners can enable Workspace integration under Site Settings > Integrations & SSO > Add Papyrs to your Google Workspace domain.... You can also find the Papyrs for Workspace on the Google Workspace Marketplace.

Papyrs integrates with Workspace in several ways:

Single Sign On

Once installed, members from your Google Workspace domain can log in to your Papyrs site using Single Sign On, using the Sign in with G Suite button. If you have enabled the Site Settings > Allow joining without invitation setting, people from your G Suite domain can join your Papyrs site automatically. Otherwise, they need to be invited to the site first before being able to sign in. See Joining the site for more details.

Google Drive (Docs/Sheets/Slides/etc)

If you already have files on Drive, you can easily attach them directly to a Papyrs page. When editing, just drag an Attachment widget to your page and select the From G Suite Drives tab in the dialog. Here you can search or browse files on any of your G Suite Drive or Team Drives.

Another useful feature when it comes to files from your Google Workspace Drives, is embedding the document directly on your Papyrs page, instead of listing it as an attachment. For example, you can add a live Google Sheet document or Google Slide, and interact with it directly on the page.
Embedding files like this is super-easy: when editing a page, just drag a Gadget to your page, and select Embed Google Drive Document (or use the Ctrl+/ command palette, if you prefer keyboard shortcuts).

Google Calendar

You can use Papyrs' built-in calendar widget, or embed any calendar already on Google Calendar. When editing, drag a Gadget to your page, and select Google Calendar.

Search

Papyrs' find-as-you-type search also works with your G Suite content. Type what you're looking for, and Papyrs will include results from your G Suite's Google Drives along with results from your Papyrs site.

SAML

If your organization uses centralized (federated) user identity management you can connect your Identity Provider (IdP) to Papyrs (the Service Provider) for Single Sign-on.

Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) is an open standard supported by all major identity platforms. This includes cloud identity providers such as OneLogin, Auth0, Okta, Azure AD, as well as modern on-premise Identity Providers.

SAML based Single Sign-on can be used in addition to – or instead of – regular password-based logins. Papyrs SAML can also be used alongside SSO with G Suite, Slack and AD.

To set up SAML Single Sign On, go to Site Settings > Integrations & SSO > Set up SAML single sign on.

If you have enabled the Site Settings > Allow joining without invitation setting, people who authenticate successfully against your SAML backend with a trusted work email address can join your Papyrs site automatically. Otherwise, they need to be invited to the site first before being able to sign in. See Single sign-on using SAML. For integration with a Active Directory Federation Services see AD FS SAML.

Active Directory (LDAP)

Does your organization already have a Windows network using Active Directory (LDAP)? In that case Papyrs can integrate seamlessly with network you already have in place. Papyrs LDAP is compatible with Microsoft Active Directory (AD), Microsoft Azure Active Directory (Azure AD), and Apple Open Directory, and Linux OpenLDAP.

To find more information about enabling Single Sign On with Active Directory, please go to Site Settings > Integrations & SSO > Active Directory.
